Managers Notes

Our first competitive season in the league saw the under 8's have a stuttering start to the season, but with a couple of new additions to the team before Christmas and a lot of hard work from all concerned, with training twice weekly, the boys gradually began to find their feet and a competitive edge to their game. Our final defeat of the Season came at the hands of the eventual league winners way back in early January at Hadley Wood, since then the boys have not lost a single game including tournaments and friendlies against teams from our first division. This fantastic run in to the end of the season saw us leap frog up the table into runners up spot, where today the boys will be receiving their well deserved medals from the WFL. The team work effort and enthusiasm from the players and parents have been superb this season, this is highlighted in the fact that forty three of us are going away for an end of season holiday, which was really initiated by some of the parents, this to me sums up the camaraderie in our team. With the headaches that come from running a team, I can honestly say that I have been proud to be manager of this team, and hope we can go on to bigger and better things next season. My final thoughts are, that due to the success of the team this year, we have had to make a decision in splitting the team and running two teams next season. I would like to welcome John Arnold who will be managing the Blue team next year, whilst I continue to run the Whites, I wish him, the boys and all the associated parents the best of luck for the forthcoming season.
