Match Report
Another meeting of the Nascot Wood Youth Development team "Cubs" and their
old adversaries Everett Rovers took part on this cold Sunday morning with an
icy wind ripping across the pitch. The game started off well with all the
boys holding their positions and focusing on the job in hand, unfortunately
due to a cruel deflection Everett Rovers scored to take the lead. Not one head fell
and despite numerous injuries all the boys kept battling to keep the score
line to just 1-0 behind at half time. The team came out in the second half
with determination to deal with the job in hand, their persistence paid off
when Oliver Verlander shot at goal and it just crept over the line to pull
the score to 1-1. Everett Rovers fought back but were unable  to stop Nascot
from defending well and counter attacking. In summary a great team effort
with each boy playing their part. Well done lads.

U7 Lions v. U7 Tigers

Match Report
A cruel wet Sunday set the scene for both the cubs Lions and tiger teams to turn out for a club friendly, The teams started off well and learned to play as two units. At half time we adjusted the teams to balance the score line, which resulted in a closer score line in the 2nd half. It was good for the children to play competitively against each other on a fully laid out pitch.
Thanks go to Steve Thomas who refereed the match.

Match Report
At last a week without frozen pitches and Nascot were keen to repeat their
previous matches victory, The first half saw some very even play,
unfortunately Watford Youth managed to get in two goals in the first half,
but the teams positive attitude lead to a well deserved debut goal from.

After half time we saw some great midfield play from Sam
Waller who took the ball half way up the pitch before providing an excellent
passed for Jamie Gerred to finish off, Nascot then continued the pressure we
numerous attacks that then saw Sabastian put in his second of the day to
bring the scores level to 3-3. ......................... and then it went a bit wrong.

The Nascot boys were caught out on a couple of set pieces and a good break
away.

We kept up a lot of pressure on the visitors with most of the play in there end
but at the end of the match the score slightly flattered a very good Watford
Youth team.  All the boys are looking forward to the return match.

Oxhey Jets v. NWR

0 - 1

Robbie Tocher

Match Report
The meeting of these two teams is turning into a local derby as many of the
Jets players are school friends of Nascot team. This meeting provided a
close fought battle that resulted in a superb win for Nascot Wood with the
birthday boy Robbie Tocher scoring the only goal for Nascot Wood. The Oxhey
Jets team played well with many attacks but they could not get through the
Nascot defensive line of Luke Wilson, Lewis Comissiong, Callum Hamlet and
the safe hands of our keeper Liam Clarke . The Midfield workhorses of Jack
Meade, Charlie Griffths, Jamie Gerred and Elliott Greg worked hard to keep
the pressure on the Jets which lead to the inevitable winning goal.

Match Report
First time out for the new look Nascot Wood U7 Tiger Cubs against the Hemel Aces.  Too much Turkey and sweets over Christmas saw us concede two early goals, but the boys dug in and some fine work on the half way line from the ever impressive Sam Waller put through the livewire Robbie Toucher to put away a fine finish and score the first goal of the new year.  The half finished 2-1 to the visitors, but Nascot were not finished yet.

Some good work from the away side was rewarded early in the second half with a third goal and for the next ten minutes the Tigers were under the cosh and penned into their own half as the visiting team attempted to finish the game off.  Francesco Campinella and Callum Hamlet worked miracles keeping the game within reach.  As the game was drawing towards the final five minutes a forward ball was picked up just inside our half by the dynamic Lewis Comissiong who ran the play into the opposing penalty area whilst fending off two challenges and while on the floor pushed the ball through from the predatory wizard Jack Meade to drill home 3-2 and game on.  The Wood went on the attack again forcing a corner almost immediately which Robbie Toucher crashed home to earn a well deserved and hard fought draw.  The action continued to the last second when Hemel broke free and with the last kick of the game brought out the bravest to the feet save of the game from Liam Clarke to save the day and keep honours even.

Match Report
The team put on a determined show all working hard throughout the game. In the first half Borehamwood went up to an early goal but we kept our positions and still tried to push forward, after some valiant goal keeping and 4 attempts at goal we knew that it was only time before we would pull the score line back to even. The second half started with us playing up hill and unfortunately Borehamwood managed to squeeze another three goals in short succession. It would have been easy for the teams heads to drop at that stage but they didn't and with some committed battling lead to Jamie Gerred being able to put one away to bring the score line back to 4-1. This was the tonic for the team who then took control and dominated the rest of the game which paid off when a cross from Sam Waller was put in the net by Callum Hamlett.

Team: Sam Waller, Luke Wilson, Callum Hamlett, Jamie Gerred, Keira Thomas-Moore, Jamie Glenn, Francessco Campenella, Natalie Wylie, Robbie Tocher.

Match Report
Well Played lads, massive improvement from last week. The Academy's white team faced a strong Borehamwood Youth team with the inclusion of three new players Sam Waller, Jack Birch and Jordan Ingles. The team set off at full tilt with both Jordan and Sam playing their second game in two days but showing no sign of fatigue. The lively front line of Sam and Jack Meade pushed the early part of the game towards the away goal. The midfield of Jamie Gerred, Luke Wilson and Jordan contained Borehamwood with a series of crunching tackles and fine ball work, while a ship shape defensive partnership of Charlie Griffiths and Lewis Comissiong protected our goal keeper Callum Hamlett who was on hand to mop-up the odd ball that came his way. As the half wore on a couple of slight lapses allowed the visiting team to establish a two goal lead. The introduction of Alex Withero, Liam Clarke and Jack Birch steadied things and saw us through to half time at 2 - 0.

The second half started brightly for Nascot with a good bit of pressure being rewarded by a superb goal by Jamie Gerred from a very acute angle. Things were poised for a very exciting finish when our goalie Callum was injured and replaced by the very brave Liam Clarke. At the final whistle our boys had given their all but the greater experience of Borehamwood made the difference.

Borehamwood 2000 v. NWRLots - 0

Match Report
An entertaining First Game for the Nascot Wood Academy against a hot Borehamwood 2000 side on the un-seasonally hot afternoon saw the new formed Academy Under 7s team finding their feet in the West Herts Under 7 friendly league. The first half was an unusually steep learning curve for the hard pressed Academy boys where they learned some harsh lessons in defending.

The second half, following a team talk and some new attitudes saw a rejuvenated academy team come out to take on the vastly more experienced 2000 side, The forwards comprising of Jack Meade, Jamie Gerred, Robbie Tocher took the fight to the travelling defence with a fine performance from debutant Francesco Campanella who at one point took on the entire Borehamwood side single-handedly and won. Every blade of grass at the back was contested and won by the inspired defence of Charlie Griffiths, Lewis Comissiong, Alex Withero, Callum Hamlett and Luke Wilson all giving blood, sweat and tears (literally) for the new Nascot cause. The team was rounded off by a fine performance by stand-in Goal Keeper Liam Clarke who made save after save in the second half showing he is a fine prospect as did all our young talent.

A brave performance from a very new Academy team showed we have a lot to look forward to in a very bright Nascot Wood future.

Come on the Wood!

Team: Lewis Comissiong, Liam Clarke, Francesco Campanella, Jack Meade, Jamie Gerred, Charlie Griffiths, Luke Wilson, Robbie Toucher, Alex Withero, Callum Hamlett
