Everett v. NWR1 - 2Elliot Greg
Match Report
A dramatic end to a wonderful game was the reward for the Academy Blue team.

The Blues started with a very young team finding their feet in an entertaining encounter with the Everett Rovers youngsters. Four new-comers joined the ranks today Elliot Greg, Lewis Jefferies, Jamie Glenn and Callan Barber lined up along side Academy Veterans Lewis Fowler, Luke Wilson, Lewis Comissiong, Francesco Campanella, Fabio Ribeiro Brady and Jack Birch and immediately showed the wealth of potential in store for Nascot Wood. The first half was a very tight affair with the ball constantly surrounded by at least 12 players at any given time, however the Nascot boys did distinguish themselves by getting in some determined tackling and pressing the game relentlessly into the home teams half. As the half developed Luke Wilson, trying his hand in goal proved that he is a very versatile player by producing a series of very fine saves to keep the Nascot goal safe. It finished honours even 0 - 0 at the whistle with the chance of the half falling to young Elliot Greg, which was pushed clear by a very bright Everett goalie.

The second half started well for the Wood with Fabio, Francesco and Lewis Comissiong continuing the fine form they have been showing this season and carrying the game to the opposition, the new lads stepped up to the challenge of match play nicely with Lewis Jefferies causing many defensive problems to the Rovers with his non-stop running, Jamie developing throughout the game into a very accomplished defender clearing ball after ball and then slotting back into position and Callan raiding down the wing carrying the game deep into Everett territory. Jack and Lewis Fowler grow in stature game by game and again showed it by chasing every ball and challenging every tackle, while Luke continued a very impressive debut in goal. With five minutes gone in the second half, against the run of play a good Everett move resulted in a well taken goal. The Academy did not let their heads drop and continued the battle and with five minutes to go a great piece of work resulted in Francesco pushing the ball through for Elliot to take his chance and put the Academy back on level terms. Minutes later the boys had their manager doing 19 stone cartwheels down the touchline as a break away with one minute to go saw the magnificent five year old Elliot Greg bury his second of the game and secure the points for a well deserved Academy victory.

Well done lads, much respect for a great game.

Come on the Wood!

Gadeside Rangers v. NWR1 - 3Sam Waller
Match Report
Academy Blue get off to a flying start

A first time victory was the result for the new NWR Academy Blue in a lively away game. Both sides were energetic and enthusiastic in the debut game for the blues but it was Nascot who drew first blood early in contest with a clinical strike from Sam Waller, this was rapidly doubled by the ever on the ball Sam to put the Academy into a commanding position. Nascot continued their good team play with the midfield of Aiden Josey, Elaine Arrieta and Oliver Verlander dominating the centre and providing an abundance of opportunities to the front pair. The defence was confidently marshalled by the very impressive Fabio Ribeiro Brady and Keira Thomas-Moore, with a fine goal keeping performance by Jordan Ingles. Early in the half in a tactical switch was made bringing Lewis Fowler into the game to provide some creative wing wizardry which was quickly rewarded with a Nascot Wood third goal as some excellent work in the middle of the park created a break which was crashed home by the deadly right boot of Tommy Pavicic who is off the mark in what will surely be a prolific Academy career.

The half continued going Nascots way and following another tactical change Sam replaced Jordan in goal. This allowed Jordan to be unleashed on an unwitting Gadeside team, at least I think it was just one Jordan as there appeared to be a Jordan Ingles in every part of the pitch, it was not long before this tireless running put Jordan through on goal for the first of many attempts. The half finished 3 - 0 to the travelling side.

You would be forgiven for thinking that this was a one sided game but as the match went on Gadeside continued to grow in confidence and as the second half started the came out of the traps the stronger of the two, if not for some great defending Fabio and Keira as well as a magnificent goal keeping performance from Sam "the man" Gadeside would have been right back in the game. As the half developed the Blues were unlucky not to extend the lead as Jordan connected beautifully with a glorious corner from Oliver only to be cleared off the line.

The later stages of the game belonged to the home team with the Academy defending wave after wave of Gadeside attacks, which were rewarded a well deserved and well taken goal. Gadeside never gave up to the very end but at the final whistle Nascot Wood Rangers Academy Blue had held on for a deserved win.

A great team performance and a very enjoyable game, positives can be taken for both sides, but it's always good to start well and The Wood will march again!

Borehamwood 2000 v. NWRLots - 0
Match Report
An entertaining First Game for the Nascot Wood Academy against a hot Borehamwood 2000 side on the un-seasonally hot afternoon saw the new formed Academy Under 7s team finding their feet in the West Herts Under 7 friendly league. The first half was an unusually steep learning curve for the hard pressed Academy boys where they learned some harsh lessons in defending.

The second half, following a team talk and some new attitudes saw a rejuvenated academy team come out to take on the vastly more experienced 2000 side, The forwards comprising of Jack Meade, Jamie Gerred, Robbie Tocher took the fight to the travelling defence with a fine performance from debutant Francesco Campanella who at one point took on the entire Borehamwood side single-handedly and won. Every blade of grass at the back was contested and won by the inspired defence of Charlie Griffiths, Lewis Comissiong, Alex Withero, Callum Hamlett and Luke Wilson all giving blood, sweat and tears (literally) for the new Nascot cause. The team was rounded off by a fine performance by stand-in Goal Keeper Liam Clarke who made save after save in the second half showing he is a fine prospect as did all our young talent.

A brave performance from a very new Academy team showed we have a lot to look forward to in a very bright Nascot Wood future.

Come on the Wood!
