Bushey Hawks 1 v 0 Eagles |

The Magnificent 7...................nearly !! A depleted Eagles side battled hard at Bushey on sunday, but were undone by a late free kick. With only 7 players available it was always going to be hard work. The lads battled hard in the first half with both teams reduced to long range efforts that never really troubled either keeper. Adam, brave as ever came out to an oncoming Bushey foward and took the ball well also taking a bang to the head....in typical Adam fashion he just shook his head and carried on. The second half
was a bit more on the back foot , the lads starting to wilt , with
no subs to bring on. Bushey get a free kick just outside the area...the
assistant manager's screams of "make a wall" fall on deaf
ears and we stand back and let them crack the ball into the corner.......back
to the listening thing again...The game ends up 1-0

After a great prformance last week the lads were a bit subdued this week, maybe thinking about previous results against Croxley. The first half we never really got going, showing our apponents far to much respect and never threatening their goal coming in 3-0 down at half time. The second half we started slowly and conceded another 2 goals which seemed to kick start our game.Taylor had 3 good efforts on goal and we then started to press Croxley back.Ross chased a long ball down which forced the keeper into a mistake and he put the ball in the back of the net. Maybe a little more belief from the start and we could have made it a much closer result. If Bryan could choose his games to miss a bit better, it would be much appreciated by the deflated asistant manager who went straight to the Royal Oak to drown his sorrows. Three games into the season and 3 wins. This was an all round excellent performance from the Eagles, playing good passing football from the start. After Wednesday's poor performance, a much improved display was called for and we weren't to be disappointed. Maybe the training sessions are paying off.
The 1st half and intricate passing and substainable pressure but no goals. 2nd half and more of the same, 1st goal came from good work from Stephen in the area, battling with 2 defenders the ball fell to Luke who pounced on the loose ball to find the net off the crossbar to make it 1-0.
The second was not long following, from one of Taylor's inswinging corners the ball hit a defender rebounded off Luke's bottom and across the line, 2-0
The 3rd came after a good flowing move. Luke scampering down the wing, beats 2 players and puts in a great cross to find Ross, who gets tackled by the impressive centre back, the balls comes out and Joe hammers it with his left foot and its 3 nil.
Its looking like 3 games and 3 clean sheets, but a dreadful mistake in defence allows Sun Postal get a consolation. On this performance the Eagles will be a hard team to beat, and it was so good to see that our training sessions are actually producing good performances. Well done !!

| Wednesday 20th September | Evergreen Colts 0 v 2 Eagles | Taylor Cobb | ||
|
A goal in each half from Taylor was enough for
the Eagles to take another 3 points , and more importantly
another clean sheet.
There isn't a lot to say about this game apart
from the goals and a very late save from Calum who dived to his
right at full stretch and turned the ball around the post. The
only shot that Evergreen had throughout the game.

More points than Watford
We start the new season how we finished
the last, an away game to Abbots Youth, on a very warm
day.
The 1st attack doesnt take long and with
Joe finding himself room in the area cracks a
rip-roaring volley in which the goal keeper makes a
great save, the rebound falls to Luke who hits it inches
over the bar.
We then have a corner, taken by Trundle
(sorry Taylor), straight at the keeper who makes
another great save but this time, following in is Calum
who calmy volleys the ball into the top corner. 1-0
The Eagles play some good football, Luke
has one of his dazzling runs and is brought down 6 yards
out of the area. He picks himself up, dusts himself down
, and with a free kick Beckham would have been proud of
curls the ball into the top of the net, this time the
poor keeper didn't have a sniff.
Half time 2-0
2nd half and the game gets scrappy, with
the Eagles defending too deep , but still having total
control of the game.
With just seconds remaining the Eagles
seal the result with a 3rd goal.
For once Calum decides not to shoot from
distance but goes on a magical run that is brought to an
end by a crunching hit from the defender (who manages to
come off 2nd best again), the balls comes out to Ross
who makes no mistake. 3-0
Considering we have only had one training
session this was an excellent start to the season. Every
single player played well. keep it going !!
