The boys are back and playing with great style. The best performance all year sealed the victory against a well organized Enfield team. Our sponsors were on hand (Loans Warehouse) to witness the first half, at which point Matt decided it was too cold to stick around. Our warmest thanks go to our sponsors for attending and supporting the team.
1st goal was from David Cross from the left wing. David played brilliantly all game beating players and supplying the attackers. 2nd goal was from Ben Fullylove, a typically combative performance from the striker got him his usual goal, third goal was Daniel Wilson's with a typical run from the midfield breaking down the Enfield defence. Fourth goal from Charlie Peters after some neat passing from Daniel Wilson which Charlie slotted away with ease from the right midfield.
Half time and the lads were in cruise mode. With Daniel (the wall) Arnold in defence keeping things tight, the boys decided to showboat and put on a show for the spectators in the cold. Some wonderful passing turn defence to attach time and time again, with Teddy, Rohin and David working really well down the left.
Luke Verlander made it 5 with a coolly taken goal and this was quickly followed by a 2 goal frenzy by Dominic Cortes, the first a blistering shot in the top corner created by Luke Verlander and the 2nd an easy tap in after beating the defender. 7-1 and the boys finished the game in style by adding a further 2 goals, one from Jamie Wise after he had battled the break through and the Captain Daniel Wilson stuck in his 2nd goal of the game. A great team performance on a cold and blustery day.
Next weeks match is against VP Knight away in the league, let’s hope we can win.
Well done boys!!!
Played in front of a Watford legend, Kenny Jacket, the boys were back to winning ways following the previous weeks shambles. Although not the best game for the purist, it was 3 mote points and a gritty performance and Ryan Hamlett touched the ball twice in the whole match.
Goals from Adam Bischoff, Charlie Peters, Eddie (scissor kick) Marshall, Luke (lob the keeper) Verlander, Daniel Wilson and an own goal sealed the victory for the team.
The worst refereeing display ever witnessed. (And I won't get a fine for saying this) he was totally biased and ruined what could have been a close game.
He gave a penalty that was not, allowed Enfield to take the ball from a Nascot free kick and play on and count the goal and then had the front to allow a goal to count when 3 Enfield players were offside and one of them scored, but was "not interfering with play somehow". It says a lot when the Enfield manager apologizes at half time for the refereeing decisions, too late when you are 3-0 down by then.
It a shame that making complaints are so pointless to the Watford Friendly League. Goal by Teddy Ring.
Our first league match of the season and we were up against Herts Eagles again, whom we had convincingly despatch the week before in the Cup. The boys were in confident mood, too confident if you as the gaffer and the hairdryer treatment was despatch even before a ball had been kicked. The message was clear, stick to the game plan and play your part. The Hawks did indeed stick to this and it wasn't long before the Hawks were pressing the defence and goalkeeper into last ditch tackles and saves. Charlie Peters playing in the midfield swaggered through the tackles and coolly slotted home his first goal of the season. 1-0 and the Hawks looked very comfortable indeed thanks mainly to Callum Tocher, Daniel Arnold and Adam Lansley defensive work keeping our goal well protected. Ben Fullylove the left winger, shot narrowly wide and was a menace to the Herts defence all game, Jamie Wise had a blistering shot saved and minutes later the team were 2-0 with Adam Bischoff's shot. Adam's twists and turns with a cool head showed why he's such a threat in front of goal. Dominic Cortes took a fantastic free-kick which just needed a touch to be goal bound. The Adam Bischoff made it 3-0 with another coolly taken goal. By now the team were cruising and Ben Fullylove shooting wide and Teddy Rign who distributed the ball well throughout the game denied by the keeper. Luke Verlander took the ball from our half and made a great run at goal only to have his shot saved desperately. The crosses and shots were flying in from all angles, with Simon Guest, Dominic, Ben , Jamie and Sam all feeding the attackers from wide positions with some wonderful passes. In one of these runs Dominic took on 2 defenders and he showed his strength by passing them both only to be fouled in the box. A penalty was called and as is the custom on this team, the player who gets' fouled gets to take the penalty. Dominic still charged by the tackle made no mistake with his blistering spot kick which soared into the back of the net before the keeper could react, 4-0. Then Ryan Hamlett our keeper extraordinaire, was called upon into a double save, given that he had been a near spectator up until this time made the saves even better and the Herts strikers were left with a clear message as to who's 18 yd box it was. In the dying minutes of the first half Luke Verlander scored his customary goal with a near identical run from the earlier effort. Having collected the ball deep inside the Hawks half, Luke meandered around the opposition but made no mistake with his clinical finish. 5-0 and the best half of football this season for the Hawks. The half time team talk was that of concentration and of passing. Out went the team to face a rather rattled Herts Eagles, so rattled in fact that they were fighting against themselves. Charlier Peters took swift advantage and with a great turn scored early on to make it 6-0. 7-0 came around quickly with Sam Baker slotting in from close ranger after the keeper had dropped Simon Guest's blistering shot. Luke Verlander had a few more efforts just wide and Adam Lansley's shot was saved much to his frustration. The passing in the second half was fantastic and a truly professional performance by the team and the vice Captain Teddy Ring. Nest weeks game will be a stronger test but confidence is high.
Next weeks match is against Evergreen in the league, let's hope we can win.
Well done boys!!!

It's fair to say that the headline a 3-3 draw doesn't begin to describe the match this Sunday morning. The Hawks, with their new, (finally) football kit and team sponsors came out with an extra spring in their steps. With cheers from the supporters "Lets start as we played the 2nd half against Wood Rangers" the team were given their instructions and set off to make their mark against a Gadeside team. The first 10 minutes were played out in Gadeside's half, Ryan Hamlett in goal could have stayed in bed an extra 30 minutes as he managed to make 3 touches in the whole of the first half. A very physical game in the first half and the Hawks found it hard to find space. Finally some distribution out to the wings from Bradley Davis and Daniel Wilson had Teddy Ring (left) and Simon Guest (Right) running up the wings and causing havoc. Daniel Arnold and Rohin Shah pushed forward from defence in the knowledge that Callum Tocher and Charlie Peters had things covered at the back. There was some wonderful passing movement but no end result. Then finally from a break down the left, Daniel Wilson stormed into the box and shot. The ball took a wicked deflection, which wrong footed the goal keeper and the Hawks were 1-0 up. The pressure continued and 1-0 soon became 2-0 with Luke Verlander, after missing every shot he took in training yesterday, managed to get his shooting boots on the right way this morning and scored. In the next blistering run Luke nearly added another with a blistering shot which rattled the cross bar and bounced just outside the line, Jamie Wise then shot from outside the box and his effort soared just high of the cross bar. Dominic Cortes, playing right wing decided to have ago and although managed to steam his way past the defender he hit the side netting. The referee decided that Dom had fouled the player, much to the Hatchet Man's disgust. Luke Verlander had a final chance on goal and this time his effort was saved by the goalie, not that the goalie knew much about it and was winded in the process. The half time team talk was to keep going and to make some of those chances count. Ben Fullylove made some great runs up the left wing and fed the attackers well. The goalie was really busy and chance after chance was missed either wide or saved. Then the sucker punch, a pass back to Ryan which looked safe, bobbled Paul Robinson style, infront of him and the ball was kicked to their striker who made no mistake of the gift. 2-1 and the nerves started to show a little. Sam Baker made some great runs upfront and David Cross was full of cool passing up the left wing. David got a ball full in the belly but soldiered on and provided some great passing. Then another lapse on concentration and it was 2-2. Teddy Ring decided to meander through the defence and force a double save from the keeper. Charlie Peters then had a shot which narrowly missed. Dominic continued his battling up the right wing fending off player after player and feeding the front men, Jamie and Sam well. With the game closing it was time to bring Luke back on, and he walked through the defence and nearly walked the ball into the goal. 3-2 and surely that must be the end. But no, a further chance at the other end gifted another goal to Gadeside and at 3-3 the Hawks pressed to get the win they deserved. Simon Guest playing up the right wing received the ball from the front man and struck and unstoppable shot from far out into the top right hand corner. The team were celebrating only to see the linesman and referee disallow the goal for an apparent off-side. So the game ended in a draw on another day it could have been a double digit scoreline for the Hawks - but not today. All in all a great game played in a very competitive and fair spirit from both sides which was much enjoyed by all.
Next weeks match is against Herts Eagles in the cup, let's hope we can stay ahead and win.
Well done boys!!!

A wonderful team performance in the September sun, gave NWRFC a narrow defeat against a strong Wood Rangers. The team started off well containing an early Wood Rangers onslaught, with Adam Lansley, Rohin Shah, Bradley Davis and Daniel “The Barrier” Arnold in defence. Daniel Wilson, Adam Bischoff, Simon Guest and Teddy Ring contained and attacked in midfield whilst Dominic “The Beast” Cortes and David Cross spearheaded the attack causing havoc in their defence. The team held Wood Rangers for a good 10 minutes before their very strong attack breached the defence and netted in some style leaving Ryan Hamlett little chance. Half way through the first half changes were brought in to freshen up the team and Charlie Peters, Luke Verlander, Jamie Wise, Sam Baker & Ben Fullylove came on to have ago at the opposition. Some good movement and passing did not pay dividends and a sucker punch was blown by Wood Rangers late on in the half by a goal which looked off side followed by a third.
Half time and the boys looked tired and frustrated. With a rallying battle cry from the coaches and the captain the team came out for the second half with a spring in their step. Wood Rangers tried but could not find a way through the tough defence and time after time, Charlie Peters, Daniel Arnold, Bradley Davis & Rohin Shah were fantastic.
Our first goal this season came from some passing down the left hand side, with Ben Fullylove and Daniel Wilson and Teddy Ring combining well to cross the ball in to the danger area. Jamie Wise was at hand to coolly slot the ball in from a tight angle and the Hawks were flying high for the first time this season. Ben Fullylove continued to battle hard down the left and on some occasions it look more like a wrestling match with the defender than a game of football. Charlie Peters had a free kick close to the edge of the box drift wide, Luke Verlander made some darting runs and Sam Baker was causing trouble down the right wing. Teddy Ring was his usual combative self, tackling fiercely and distributing the ball from the midfield to the front lads.
Our second goal didn’t take long to follow the first and up popped Adam Bischoff to slot the ball in from close range to narrow the gap to 2-3. Wood Rangers were going through a difficult spell and the Hawks were soaring. Simon Guest had a great game in midfield breaking up play and distributing the ball to the channels brilliantly. As the second half continued, Callum Tocher looked to sure up the midfield and try to push further for the equaliser. Further changes were made to the team, with David Cross brought in to fill in at the back and distribute the ball. Ryan Hamlett made some great saves and the defence held strong with Daniel Arnold, Charlie Peters, Rohin Shah & Adam Lansley battling away and clearing their lines.
The WWE style defending continued on from both sides and Dominic Cortes pressed the Wood Rangers defence hard into mistakes.
It was unfortunate that we conceded a final goal later on in the game on the counter attack, but at 4-2 down the boys continued with the new found spirit and although the team continued to work hard and had more chances the game came to and end. Team captain Daniel Wilson had a great game breaking down Wood Rangers attacks and all the boys performed really well.
All in all a great game played in a very competitive and fair spirit from both sides which was much enjoyed by all.
Next weeks match is against Gadeside and if we start the game the way we played the second half it won’t be long before the Hawks are scoring goals again.
Well done boys!!!
