2nd October 2005 - Friendly Result: Oxhey Jets U7 1 - 1 NWR Youth Dev
Honours were even as the Youth Development fielded our talent of tomorrow against a very good Oxhey Jets Youth team. A good natured, well played game saw both teams do their respective clubs proud as fine displays marked the first of many friendlies planned for the season. Nascot took an early lead as "Diamond" Jack Meade crashed home a powerhouse shot to give the travelling team an early advantage. Nascot then really pushed the game at full tilt towards Oxhey, with our danger man Robbie Tocher running riot through the Jets defence. For most of the first half the midfield of Jamie Gerred, Aiden Barber, Alex Withero and Oliver ruled the roost with some very competitive play and fine tackling on display to allow Nascot to maintain pressure on the Oxhey defence and forcing a string of magnificent saves from a very promising young keeper for the home side. As the half drew to an end Oxhey came into the game more applying pressure to a resolute Nascot wood defence of Charlie Griffiths and Lewis Comissiong. The lads at the back held a very professional line and dealt with all threats leaving our goalie Callum Hamlett to competently mop up at the back. At half time the score remained 1 - 0.
The second half got under way with a much more even game as Oxhey applied sustained pressure from the off and the Nascot defence got much more of a work out while our forward line continued to create problems for the home defence. Again the great little Oxhey keeper producing a series of wonderful saves kept the game alive and at the now more lively Nascot goal Callum showed he would not be over shadowed by producing a fine goal keeping display to keep us in the lead. In a frantic last five minutes Oxhey turned up the pressure again and besieged the Nascot goal, then with three minutes remaining on the clock the Jets put together a well worked manoeuvre to break the away defence and drilled the ball home with no mistake. Bouyed by the late goal Oxhey maintained the pressure right to the end and almost snatched victory as their forwards latched on to a long ball and got in behind the Nascot defence, Callam made a magnificent parry as the final whistle went.
A well deserved draw, and so much promise for the future. Come on the Wood!
